Whether you arecalling leads or cold callingand you get someone's voicemail, immediately follow up with an email. The email should refer back to the voicemail as such: "Hi [prospect]. I hope you are having a great day so far. Per the voicemail I left you just a few minutes ago, I would love to chat about [whatever]..."
This triggers that prospect to check out your voicemail!
Bonus tip: Always leave a thought provoking voicemail that will entice your lead to track you down for further information.
