5 Key Components of a Well-Constructed Blog Post

Inbound marketing is all about creating valuable, remarkable content that other websites will naturally want to link to in their own content. Specifically, it’s a crucial part of increasing your website’s number of quality inbound links. And what is one of the most proven ways to create valuable content? Blogging.

Business blogging is a bit different than traditional blogging, however. Instead of creating content for entertainment, you’re building content so that it’s easily sharable in social media and optimized for a high ranking in search results. So how do you go about doing this? By making sure each blog post has all the key components. Here are five of them:

1. An Attention-Grabbing Title

Because your blog article’s title is the first thing people will see, it’s important to make sure it clearly indicates what the article is about. Additionally your title should be concise, keyword-rich (because the header tag is the most important for SEO) and attention grabbing.

2. Well-Written, Properly Formatted Text

The body of your article should be well written and formatted in a way that makes it easy to read. Consider using header tags and bulleted lists to break up the content into sections. Also, make sure to double check it for errors or have someone else look it over.

3. Engaging Images or Videos

Relevant multimedia content can make a blog article more memorable and fun to read. It also helps to break up text to make it more pleasing to the eye. Don’t forget to add alt text!

4. Links 

Include in-text links to relevant content. These can also point to internal content — such as landing pages and website pages — or external content. Either way, they help you generate more leads for your content. Just be sure to have external links open in a new window.

5. Call-To-Actions

Each and every blog post you publish should include a relevant call-to-action (CTA) in order to help boost lead generation. Traditionally, this goes at the bottom of the article, but feel free to mix things up and see if it works better in the middle, on the side or as a slide-in CTA.

There you have it. If you have all of these key components, you’ll have a well-constructed blog post that will engage visitors and hopefully attract inbound links.
